Open Farm Sunday event

14 July 2019

On Sunday 9th June we opened the farm gates to welcome the public as part of Open Farm Sunday, which is a national event – in 2019 over quarter of a million people visited some 365 farms across the UK.

At Pound Farm, about 180 visitors came to see our huge tractors and combine harvester as they learned how we grow arable crops, including wheat, barley and oilseed rape. Over in the paddock children and adults alike enjoyed the chance to see some cattle and sheep up close and to ask questions of the team about what they eat and how they live.

But the highlight for many was our tractor and trailer ride, taking in a short tour of the farm to see our growing crops and hear about our wildlife conservation work. There were lots of photo opportunities, including some beautiful poppies in the field margins and the White Park cattle showing off their calves.

We welcome Open Farm Sunday visitors free of charge once a year because we are proud of the wildlife-friendly farming that we work hard at all year round! If you would like to visit in 2020, Open Farm Sunday will take place on 7th June.
